Todd Leader
Author, Social Worker, Community Psychologist, Consultant, multiple-award-winning educator and leader
His father always jokingly said that Todd was “born a Leader”, which turned out to be true in more ways than just his last name. Yes...a literal "dad joke".
Here, you get to learn from a multiple-award-winning educator, and a multiple award-winning leader.
Todd Leader, over his lengthy career, has developed expertise in leadership of social change and client-centered public-sector services. However, unlike many consultants and trainers, his expertise comes from real-world experience and measurable successes. He has been consulted by governments and NGOs across Canada in many sectors including Health, Education, Justice, Community/Social Services, Long-term Care, and community non-profits. Todd has been contracted to deliver presentations or create educational videos for the Mental Health Commission of Canada, the Canadian Centre on Substance Use and Addiction, the Canadian Mental Health Association (national conference), Peer Support Canada, and many others. His book, "It's Not About Us; The secret to transforming the mental health and addiction system in Canada" (also based on a true story of leading unmatched system impacts), continues to influence services across the country.
Todd is a Registered Social Worker and a Registered Community Psychologist. He has been a member of the Nova Scotia Ministerial Advisory Panel on Innovation in Mental Health and Addictions, President of the Public Health Association of Nova Scotia, President of the Association of Psychologists of Nova Scotia, Vice President of the Nova Scotia College of Social Workers, a member of the Board of Directors of the Canadian Public Health Association, and his leadership contribution to his community has been recognized by a declaration in the Nova Scotia Legislature. He has twice earned the most prestigious Excellence in Teaching awards from the Saint Mary's University Students Association, and health services under his leadership have won two International Best Practice Awards from the Ontario Hospital Association.
Perhaps the most frequent comment by Todd's 12,000+ students over the years has been that his passion for inspiring and supporting effective leadership of social change and public-sector services grabs and holds their attention while helping them think outside the box.
